To my fellow teachers, I wish you a wonderful school year! Remember:

With the beginning of the school year, I always feel overwhelmed--even more so this year, trying to complete graduate school courses. Everything will work out and everything will get finished. Don't get overwhelmed. Be the best teacher you can be for your students!

(I know, this is easier said than done.)

Smile A LOT.

The summer is at an end as most teachers begin their first day of school this week. Some teachers may be excited, some nervous, and some may be wishing for a few more days of extra sleep. Whatever the case, it is important to remember that this is the first day for students too (obviously). What I mean is, don't let your attitude, nerves, whatever affect your mood. Some students, especially at my school, have no other positive contact outside of school. Put your teacher pants on and give those kids a happy first day of school!

In my classroom, I try to teach my students that trying is how we learn and making mistakes is how we learn. I love this quote because it says that, just a little more eloquently.

Pep Talk--For Teachers and Students

Teachers, I hope you find a little inspiration from the Kid President. Remember, "Everybody's a teacher and everybody's a student." You can learn from your students too!
